For your Resume

You will have to convert your CV to a Resume format. This is a one page document which is short and to the point with only relevant information for the role you are applying for.

  • Get creative and add colour to your resume and work with the layout. You can find many samples online.
  • Add a photo to your resume or link your LinkedIn account so potential employers can put a face to your name.
  • For your professional summary - write this as a paragraph. This is your chance to summarise your skills to the employer. Keep it brief!
  • With your work history – give a brief description of your role and responsibilities under the heading rather than many bullet points. Use only relevant experience and put the dates beside the name of the Company to save space.
  • Education – put only your 3rd level degree and any further degrees as well as any relevant courses you may have done through work.
  • Break up the Skills and personal achievements in to two sperate headings and list your most important skills under this - be selective.
  • Add in any volunteer work you have done.
  • Send it on to us to review!

For your cover letter/ email

  • Tailor this to each company.
  • Tell the company why you want to work with them.
  • Tell them when you will be able to start.
  • Tell them you already have sponsorship.
