Modified on Fri, 16 May at 7:53 PM

Please Note - If you have already secured a position prior to arrival in the USA and your employer has completed your DS7002 Training Plan, you must wait until you have arrived in the US before you can submit this to your visa sponsor for vetting and approval!

Once you have arrived safely in to the USA, registered for SEVIS, Applied for a Social Security Number and secured your employment – it is time for you to submit the DS7002 Training Plan.

Training Plan Requirements

The DS-7002 (Training Plan) is a document completed by the Host Organisation to detail the structure, goals, and training components of your internship.   It must include:

  • Structured skill development.  It needs to show clear skill progression through different training phases, including rotations across departments and exposure to new techniques.
  • At least 3 distinct training phases if you are training for 12 months in the same company (required).
  • Clear, detailed and consistent language.  Your employer must emphasize the role is an internship and not a job throughout all phases of the Training Plan

Each training phase must clearly outline:

  • Description of Intern’s role for this phase. Example:
    • The intern will support the marketing team in conducting market research, developing social media content, assisting with email campaigns, and analysing digital marketing metrics. They will work closely with senior team members to gain practical experience in marketing strategy and execution.
  • Specific goals and objectives for this phase. Example:
    • Develop an understanding of digital marketing strategies, including social media management and email marketing.
    • Learn how to analyse marketing data to measure campaign effectiveness.
    • Gain experience in content creation and copywriting for various platforms.
    • Improve project management and collaboration skills within a marketing team.
  • Name, title and qualifications of the supervisor overseeing the training. Example:
    • Emily Johnson, Marketing Manager - Master’s degree in Marketing and over 10 years of experience in digital marketing, specializing in content strategy and data analytics. Managed multiple internship programs and is experienced in mentoring young professionals.
  • Specific knowledge, skills and techniques that will be learned. Example:
    • Social media marketing strategy and content scheduling
    • Email marketing platforms and campaign management
    • SEO basics and keyword research
    • Google Analytics and performance tracking
    • Market research techniques and data interpretation
  • Methods of training (e.g. hands-on experience, mentoring )
    • Hands-on experience with real marketing campaigns. Weekly mentoring sessions with the marketing manager. Shadowing senior team members in campaign planning meetings. Online training modules on SEO and analytics tools. Guided practice in creating marketing reports
  • How skill development will be evaluated (e.g. feedback sessions, weekly supervisor check-ins, performance reviews). Example:
    • Weekly one-on-one meetings with the supervisor to discuss progress and challenges. Midpoint and final performance reviews evaluating skill development. Constructive feedback on marketing projects and content creation. Self-assessment reflection reports at the end of the internship

Site Visit Requirement for Host Companies

  • Some hosts organizations require a site visit from the visa sponsor before they can be approved for the program.
  • A site visit will take place if your company has never taken on an intern through the program before, for example.
  • You will be notified in advance if a site visit is required.
