SEVIS

SEVIS stands for Student and Exchange Visitor Information System, and you are required to register for it once you arrive in to the USA. You must register within 10 days of your DS start date, but you can register sooner if you travel within your grace period before your DS start date. We strongly recommend you register for SEVIS the day you arrive in the US.

Things to remember about SEVIS registration:

• You cannot register for SEVIS until after you have landed in the United States
• To register, you must have your DS-2019 number, current address in the U.S., and host organization information ready.
• You can also register online via your US Sponsor account or by calling them on the phone. Contact Information is available on your USIT account.
• If you are delayed and will arrive after your DS2019 start date, contact USIT for further instructions.  
• If you change your address in the US, you must supply your new address to your US Sponsor within 5 business days.
• If you do not register for SEVIS or report a change of contact information your program may be terminated.
